Inspired by Florida’s vernacular Cracker building traditions, this home takes advantage of local materials and climate. The building is composed of a masonry volume wrapped by a screened wood porch. The public functions of the house are placed within the masonry block and the private uses are housed within the porch. The plan of the house is organized around a central hall that reaches from porch to porch and provides excellent natural cross-ventilation throughout the building. The project was designed in collaboration with Trelles Architects.
