The project is a proposal for a new courthouse for the city of Williamsburg, Virginia sponsored by James City County. The scheme is inspired by a building designed by Thomas Jefferson which consisted of a stepped tower. The different courthouse functions are distributed on each of the three levels with a corresponding public plaza open to the sky. The building is adorned at the very top with a folkloric weathervane depicting a scene typical of colonial America. The project was designed in collaboration with Trelles Architects.
